What The Kindle Cannot Do #5

A couple of days ago, I bought a book for friend who was in the hospital. It was a spontaneous purchase and I thought he'd enjoy it. Something picked up at the last minute with him and his situation in mind. So today, this entry is about "what the Kindle" cannot be...and here it is: the Kindle cannot be a small gift that one buys at the spur of the moment and one brings to a dinner party, a get together, or simply one of those "come empty handed" occasions....

What the Kindle Cannot Do #4

Let's admit this: Books are wonderful for their content and as a representation of a life lived, but, they are also decorative objects. For those of us who can't afford expensive art work, books lined up on a shelf are the next best thing. Unless they are a collection of "For Dummies", they easily project sophistication and erudition. Well: The Kindle Cannot Do That!

Barnes and Noble highlights the Ebooks Market

While, as we'd predicted, out of necessity Barnes and Noble is moving into the e-books business, it is strange that they would first target Blackberry users with their newly acquired Fictionwise.

As a BB owner myself I can state the following: BB screens are just not as pleasant as their iphone counterparts. They're smaller - as a matter of fact they're tiny - and as much as they're great to catch up on the latest news or for reading a couple of New York Times article while waiting in the cashier line at the supermarket, they are definitely nothing to drool over when it comes to reading "In Search of Lost Time."

E-books are a growing market, yes, but, truthfully, an e-reader for the BB seems a step backward. Makes you wonder what they have in mind next....a MAGNIFIER?

Oops....it already exists!
